There's just something about playing baseball under the lights. Noah's team will be doing this a lot this year with games starting at 7:30. Here he's warming up pitching. This also happened to be the game we were in charge of the scoreboard and announcing. Ethan was in his element announcing each batter. I think if it had been up to him, he would have done some commentary also.

April 29, 2015 - With His Hat Slightly Askew
With his hat slightly askew is a phrase that has been used to describe my dad a few times. So when I looked up tonight and saw Sawyer with his hat tipped to one side I had to take a picture of him and send it to Eunice. Apparently he has learned a thing or two from hanging out with Grandpa. I will admit the way he was wearing his hat was keeping the sun out of his eyes.
When we were getting to leave the fields there was this beautiful sunset. It's like the sky is on fire. So pretty.

April 28, 2015 - Washing the Car
It's feeling like summer today so Sawyer and I pulled out the truck and got to washing it. Sawyer's a pretty good helper. He especially likes spraying off the truck and scrubbing the tires. He only sprayed me once on purpose.

April 27, 2015 - Umping
Noah is finally able to ump for Little League games this year. He was pretty excited for his first game and figured he would start in the field for his first game. But when he got to the fields he found out they needed one more ump behind the plate so he volunteered. It turned out that he had to ump Bryce's game with Dan and Seth Schaller coaching. So his first umping job is behind the plate, with his little brother playing and his dad and teacher coaching! No pressure at all! He did a great job though, very decisive with his calls and loud enough so everyone knew what was being called.

April 26, 2015 - Always Playing Something
If we aren't playing baseball I guess we might as well play some basketball in the driveway. Time well spent together and some getting some exercise in the meantime.

April 24, 2015 - Sk8s Diner
The 8th grade class has been working on preparations for their 8th grade meal now for a few weeks and tonight is the night it all gets to come together. I've had the pleasure of helping them plan the theme and food. It's been a lot of fun working with all of the kids and I've loved getting to know all of them better. So there will be a lot of pictures for today but a lot of work went into tonight so I think it's only right.
The 8th grade girls
Noah driving the ladies
I love this picture of Noah and Krystal!
The 8th grade boys
We all got into character. I think I want a poodle skirt now! But Dan's hair can go. :)
A scary glimpse into the future
All ready for a night at the drive-in
The 8th graders under the diner canopy. This thing gave us trouble but we finally got it to stay put!
Sk8s Diner was the chosen name. Pretty creative if you ask me. They came up with the sign design on their own.
After preparing dinner for all their parents, they finally get to relax and eat!
Old timey Coke bottle and malts made the meal
Good thing this car is do long!
The lettermen cruising the town
Anya and I had lots of fun helping plan this night. I'm so happy she agreed to help, I couldn't have done it without her!
The whole crew, one last time

April 23, 2015 - Time to Kill
Noah is playing in a Prep's League for baseball now and their practices are a little longer than when he was in Little League. The fields aren't real close to our house so that means I sometimes have a couple hours to kill while waiting for him to be done. Luckily, Mt. Simon is really close to Phoenix Park and there's a great walking path that I can go use. Tonight was a beautiful night for a walk. And I got to enjoy the beginning of the sunset when I was finished with my 4 miles.

April 22, 2015 - Sawyer and Levi
Apparently, I forgot to take a picture today. So I looked back through old pictures and found this gem. These two always make me laugh.

April 21, 2015 - Not our Typical Tuesday Night
Ayres sponsored a table at the annual Chamber Dinner tonight. So Dan and I got to get dressed up and head to the University for the meal. It was a fun night. Lots of people we didn't know and a slightly cold walk from the car to the Davies Center but it was worth it. It's not every Tuesday we go out just the 2 of us. Plus they had one of those photo booths were you pick different things to wear like mustaches and glasses. We took advantage of that and got some fun pics to keep.

April 20, 2015 - Comfortable?
This is the week of the 8th grade meal. So I've been slowly taking things over to Messiah that we'll need. Today we needed to deliver some trees and the car. Sawyer and Jake got the pleasure of a car ride in the midst of the chaos. They were watching a movie so I don't think they minded too much. It was funny to look back there and see this though..

April 19, 2015 - The Sunday Special
It's become a tradition to have what we call our Sunday Special (popcorn, cheese, sausage and crackers) every Sunday for supper. If for some reason we aren't able to have it, the kids get kind of upset, Bryce and Sawyer especially. It's a nice, easy supper and the kids all like to help prepare it. I have a feeling this will be something we do for years to come, the quantities will just keep getting bigger.

April 18, 2015- Card Night
Dan and I get together with friends every now and then to play cards. We hadn't gotten together for awhile, schedules just get too crazy. But we managed to get a few couples together tonight and had a really good time. It ended up being somewhat of a mini class reunion for us. We can't wait to get together again.

April 17, 2015 - Home Early and Some Math Bowl Fun
It's a Friday and beautiful out again. I came home to find Dan home early! Always such a nice surprise. We decided to go for a walk, he slowed me down a little but the company was good.
Noah and Ethan were both asked to be in the Math Bowl again this year. They both did really well, answering lots of questions right. It's always an interesting time going and watching this. There are some questions that the older kids had that I had no idea how to solve. I'm glad they knew what they were doing though. Ethan ended up getting 3rd place for 5th-6th graders. Way to go guys! We're very proud of both of you.

April 16, 2015 - A Beautiful Day
It's definitely feeling like spring around here. It was so nice Sawyer and I met Rebecca and Jake at a park for lunch. Jake and Sawyer played a little and Rebecca and I enjoyed the sun. After lunch Karen met us for a walk, Sawyer likes riding his bike on the path close to our house. We finished the evening at Carson Park for an Immanuel baseball game. All around a pretty great day!

April 15, 2015 - Crazy Evening
There was a lot going on today and I forgot that Dan had to be gone til late for work so I had a moment of panic when I realized a little too late that I was going it all. I was out at school working with the 8th graders on 8th grade meal stuff so Sawyer got some playtime in with Drew Schaller. When we got home, Sam Oster and Gabe Plath came over to paint the old car we cut out of wood for the meal. I thought I would be home to supervise this project but I had to run Sawyer to baseball practice. Everything turned out fine, and it was probably better that I wasn't hovering over the boys painting and just let them do it their way. Everything got done and no huge messes were made. I definitely prefer when Dan is home though.

April 14, 2015 - Baseball in the Yard
Dan has been having some batting practice with the boys in our yard. He takes them to the furthest corner and pitches to them. It's great to have such a big yard, we never could have done this at our old house. We are however, realizing that Noah may not be able to get real baseballs pitched to him even in this yard. He's come close to hitting the house too many times!
